it is a job looking for a job. I moved here to houston after my deployment from iraq thinking I would easily find a job. All the retail jobs now are apply online and bigger end jobs require a degree. Hell, I'm having hell trying to get a job in the health field for which I trained up for. Maybe I'll hear back from Memorial Hermann on monday about a job opening... if not. I guess I can try and apply to brake check. I'll have to hit up the VA office and see if they can help me out. Been looking on craigslist, snagajob, indeed, workintexas, houston backpage, careerbuilder, monsters, yahoohotjobs, etc. Thinking about changing my degree plan now. I need a beeeeeeeer...... Will have to apply for unemployment... this sucks.

Don't give up....I had a hard time finding a job after the U.S.M.C. as well. We just got 650 resumes for 1 opening this week....the market is tough right now.

Puff - visit all the hospital sites including St. Lukes and Baylor....just don't give up. Our medical center is so large and the field is still one of the strongest out there. All the best and if I can think of other sites I'll post here again.

Don't give up!
Check out METHODIST, AND ST. LUKES just opened up a hospital IN Sugar Land.
Speaking of V.A., check them out as well.
Sometimes we find a job to pay the bills while we interview for one you want.

And depending on what area of Houston, check the smaller local general hospitals. You may have to walk in to find their HR which will then direct you to job openings on a site if you cannot find one online.

I've hit up most of the hospitals online and submitted my resume. Only thing left are the clinics but I don't have enough experience to handle a generalist's job to be able to work in a clinic. Being a grunt in the Army doesn't really expand your career much outside other than you have a one up on regular joes.

Stay on it, Puff....it's a field in demand. If you have a degree, look into sub teaching to pay the bills til something pans out. Sorry not to be able to offer more help.

Puff - Unite Health Group - that's the company I couldn't remember. They always have listings/career fairs.

MD Anderson turned me down. Not enough experience... well settled for a low low paying job.... Something is better than nothing now. Thanks for the help folks. The search continues!

Sounds like you need a re imagined Resume. With a few "Creative" description adjustments and some "Fuzzy" time spans.
