A couple of guys that would like to do this mod wanted me to take some pictures and explain how I did this mod. Here was when I was installing the blue LED modules for night time accent lighting but I can also show you how I wired the white LED modules for footwell lighting on both sides when a door is open. I would suggest that you disconnect the battery when soldering electrical wires. First you need 1 or 2 (depending on if you want to do both sides) LED modules. I went with 2 white 6-LED stick modules from oznium.com. They have a little red sleeve on the power wire. And some extra wire is really useful and most likely needed. I bought a pack at RadioShack with 3 15ft. roles of 18 gauge wire that came in 3 colors: red, black, and green.
Now untwist the factory driver side footwell light and remove the bulb from the socket. The bulb socket has 2 wires. Blue=power Brown=ground I stripped back some of the wire coating and just soldered my power wire to the blue wire and ground wire to the brown wire. There are probably better ways to do this but I wanted to get it down quickly. When all was down, I went back and covered all of my solder connections with electrical tape.
I attached my 18 gauge wire to a metal clothes hanger that I straightened out and fished it through an opening by the accelerator pedal between the center console and firewall to the passenger side. I then soldered the 18 ga. wire to the LED module wires and tapped the other end into the power wire and ground wire of the drivers side LED module.
On the passenger side, there was a nice little cut out where I could use a zip tie and secure the LED module wires so they would be out of the way.
Where my finger is in this picture, is where the passenger side LED module wires run between the center console and firewall back over to the driver side where they are connected to your power and ground.
Now reconnect the battery, open the door and if everything was done right, they should light up. Reinstall your factory driver footwell bulb (if you want, I have a #74 3-LED light from V-LEDS.com) and twist the socket back in place and your done. I am going to continue on with this how to showing how I installed the blue LED modules using a rocker switch to turn them on when I want. I work at a Mercedes dealership and was able to use some things I found laying around in the parts dept. to complete this install. I bought 2 blue LED modules and a round rocker switch w/ blue LED from oznium.com. The install was very similiar to the install above. I installed the rocker switch next to the traction control switch to the right of the steering wheel. The switch panel just pops out. I had to drill out one of the switch dummy covers for the rocker switch and had to modify the plastic switch panel to get the rocker switch to fit. (I screwed up the first cover and broke it. I had to order a new dummy cover which is about $5.) The switch is a 3 pin switch = pin 1 is for your accessory (what you are going to power up by switching on), pin 2 is your constant power source or any kind of power source, and pin 3 is your ground.
I found some thicker red wire laying around the shop that I was able to use for my constant power source to the switch. I think it is 14 gauge wire that I crimped to a ring terminal which I secured to the positive battery cable.
I was able to push the power wire through a grommet on the firewall on the driver side.
This is on the interior of the grommet and you can see the white metal hanger I was using to fish the wire through.
For my ground point for the switch, I used another ring terminal and found a metal bracket to attach the ground wire. It is just left of the brake pedal.
And again I just soldered my power wires together and soldered my ground wires together, connected the battery and flipped the switch on and watched the light show. LOL.
And the passenger side.
Here is a picture of them lit up on the passenger side. Pretty nice looking for just being parked in a dealership shop with all the shop doors open. I will try and get some night time pics tonight as I just installed these this morning.
Here are a couple of night time shots. They are kind of blurry. Best I could get but the leds are very blue and nice and bright.
Thanks for reading. I hope that this will help anyone wanting to do this mod and if you attempt it, I wish you good luck.

That will work for "some" mods...but most mods will take a while to install....especially electrical mods that require soldering.

Well, for replacing your basic light bulbs, I would go with vleds.com. They have the best bulb replacement leds. In this write up, I used leds from oznium.com cause vleds doesn't offer those type of led products. I also made a fourth brake light that I installed directly beneath my rear license plate using a 9 inch red flexible led strip from oznium wired to the left tail lamp. I could probably do a write up on that if anyone is interested.

Sweet LED mod under the frame. I say go for another DIY if you have the time. That one I may actually be able to accomplish on my own. BTW, I meant preferred brand of beer. You are truly the LED man!!! Thanks, Eric.

I want to do a whole lot more interior leds in my truck. I want it to be so bright white when I open the door and step into the cab, it looks like i am steeping into the light. (use your imagination)
