Subject: 411 ON LEVELING KITS 9/30/2009, 10:46 pm |

by popular request, this thread is dedicated to learn you about leveling kits.
Leveling is not the same as a lift kit. Leveling your truck generally means raising the front end or rear end to the same height as the oposite end... e.i., 2.5in front level or 3in front level.
1Gen's - 2.5in to level 2Gen's - 3in to level
a lot of people will post that they have a 3/1 kit... basically what that means is that they have a 3in strut spacer in the front a 1in block or add a leaf spring in the rear.
Q: "Why would you add 1in to the rear if 3in in the front makes it level, Ben?"
A: some, such as myself, dont mind a bit of RAKE... or slant of the truck. the Front end of my truck (1gen dc) is .5in lower than the rear but by just looking at it from a far, you can't really tell.
Q: "Will leveling my truck change my ride quality?"
A: Different trucks may vary but most of the reviews show no ride quality change.
Q: "How big of tires can I run on my truck with and without a leveling kit?"
A: Without Leveing 1gen - 30in 2gen - 33in
With Leveling kit 1gen - 33in 2gen - 35in
Q: "What is a good brand of kit for my truck?"
A: all Spacer leveling kits do the same thing... some are deisgned differenly. If you just want to level it and not be abusive on your suspension, Fat Bobs Garage or Ready Lift are great, INEXPENSIVE kits.
For a more rugged leveling kit, Low Range and Truxx are great kits... they'll cost you a few bucks more but are definitely worth the money.
