When I got new wheels, they took the TPMS off my stock wheels and put them on my aftermarket ones. Had no problems keeping them.

Your TPMS sensor should look like this... Yes, it is part of your valve stem.
If your OE TPMS sensors are working fine you do not need to replace them. You can simple swap them into your new wheels. If your new wheels will not except your TPMS sensors we do sell a banding system that will secure your TPMS sensor to the inside of your wheels. (Sounds like dmonge90's wheels needed this).
Now, when you purchase new tires or new wheels it is highly recommended that you purchase the TPMS rebuild kits for your OE sensors. These are simple, inexpensive kits ($3-7.00 each) that include a new valve core, a new plastic cap* and new rubber grommets/ seals. It is important to install these rebuild kits as some of the TPMS sensor parts (specifically the rubber grommets) are only designed to be used once.
*Plastic cap. Note it is very important to only use plastic valve stem caps with your TPMS sensors. Metal valve caps will corrode your TPMS sensor quickly rendering them useless and in need of replacement. If you like the look of a metal or chrome valve cap be sure that you purchase plastic caps with a chrome or metal finish.

Whoa! Thanks for the breakdown DTD! I had to use a banding system but not sure how the TPMS was detached from the valve stem to accomplish that. It's working well so no reason to question it. Again, great answers....thanks...
