Subject: HID Question 10/18/2009, 8:56 am |

I am looking at HID kits for my lows and fogs. I have had a 35 watt kit on my Mazda3 before I had the Tundra and it was kick ass. But now there are 55 watt kits out there. Here are a few of my questions: How much brighter is the 55 watt kit than the 35 watt? Is the 55 watt kit going to absolutely blind any driver I come across? How much of a blue tint does the 6000K kit have? I want pretty much just white with minimal blue. Thanks for the info in advance.

I have PIAA Extreme White driving lights - 55K - super white with no blue at all. Somewhat blinding to others from the pissed off reactions/retaliation. Here's a pic of the guy that told me about his before I ordered/installed.

I've got 6k HIDs on mine. Wouldn't go any higher than the 6ks. But I do need to get some for my fog lights. Looks funny with the HID headlights and regular foglights.

Well, I went with the 35W 6000K kit for my lows. Got them on Monday at lunch and had them installed by dinner that night. They look cool. Now just have to match my fogs. I did learn this though: Lowered and leveled Tundra + never having headlamps adjusted + HID kit = lots of pissed off car drivers. Got behind one lady at a light and she flipped here rearview mirror then flipped me the bird. Last night, I was behind one guy at a light and noticed that my left headlight was shining directly into his driver sideview mirror and he was trying his best to block the light. I felt kind of bad about it because I know how he feels and wouldn't want that to happen to me. So, I had some help from one of the guys in the Mercedes shop to properly adjust the headlamps. We had to lower the beam a whole lot. Now it doesn't shine so much into the mirrors of cars in front of me and puts a lot of light onto the road. If you have an HID kit, I would recommend getting your headlamps properly adjusted.
