Installation:

Is a snap! The hardest part, believe it or not, is finding a decent location to MOUNT the ballasts! There is no cutting of wiring or anything that requires a Master Electrician certification... They are very straight forward. Typically, Disconnect your headlight power wire and plug it into the HID ballast. Then, install the HID bulb in the headlight. Connect the HID bulb to the ballast. Power on!

There are some different kits on the market... For starters, you need to decide what color do you want.. Colors are measured in Kelvins (K). This is more or less the scale..

3000k = JDM Yellow
4000k = White/ Yellow
6000k = Brilliant White
8000k = White/ Blue
10000k = Blue/ White
12000k = Blue/ Purple

Once you've selected the color you need to figure out whether or not you want regular HIDS or High Wattage HIDS. 55 watt systems are about 1cm longer than the 35 watt system. Here is the breakdown:

35 watts= Regular HIDS. 95% of the kits you see on the street are 35 watts. These kits produce about 3100 - 3300 lumens. (Lumens is the measurement of usable light produced by one HID bulb.)

55 watts = High Wattage HIDS. Relatively new on the market. Recommended only for Auxiliary lighting for off-road conditions. These kits produce up to 50% more lighting than 35 watts kits dependant on the vehicle application. 55 watt kits produce an incredible 5000 lumens per bulb! Even though our trucks already handle 55 watt bulbs, it's advised to also purchase a wiring harness. It isn't necessary though. 55 watts in all kits are available for an upgrade of $ 25.

Finally, how much space do you have to work with to install the ballasts? If you have a truck like ours, the regular ballasts will work and you'll save some money. However, if the HIDS are going on a civic or a motorcycle... SLIM kits are the only way to go.. They are 40% smaller and fit nearly anywhere! ~~These do have an upgrade charge.~~ No upgrade charge for GCT members!

Great information here as well. I may be interested in slim upgrades for motorcycle. My Kawasaki isn't as bright as I want it to be and I do ride late nights. Instead of turning on my highs which essentially makes both lights run instead of the single, I'd rather just have better lighting period.

Does it stillwork with 2010 adjustable headlamps? I have been thinking about doing this. I think I can handle the wiring. LOL

James, I have several customers with the 2010. A few have reported a blown fuse. They have up'ed the fuse one and haven't had issues. I personally have not seen the new '10 adjustable headlight mechanism to safely say that I recommend that move.

Yep sponsors are suppose to support one another. On one of the Titan sites I sponsor I will usually get 5 or 6 text messages from the site owners and from the other vendors if someone needs something and I am not on. It always helps to have other epople watching out for you.

This is the way it should be.. We are all here supporting the site. We all specialize in different areas and should be able to lend a hand when necessary. You'd be surprised how this harmony does not exist with other sites. Thankfully, the two sites I am a vendor on are cool and family-like!

That's awesome. Thanks for all the information! Do you have anything between the 4000 and 6000? Maybe something like 5300K. I'm looking for something as white as possible with the smallest amount of blue/.

I have 4500k and 5000k. 5000k will have no blue whatsoever.

Awesome that's what I'm looking for. Can you run a 35W on low beams and a 55W on high beams? I want the brightest but I also don't want to piss everyone off. You really only need the brightest and baddest when you need your highs so I that's why I was wondering if you could mix the two

Thats a good idea on 35 low and 55 high.

I like the white without blue, don't have fogs.

What are recommendations on 35's low at 5000 (right?) and 55 for high beams and cost for these parts?
Who would install in Houston are cause I've never done it?
