What's the real difference between lift kits and shocks? I'm considering Bilsteins to level since I hear these will also give a firmer/tight ride. Front and rear parts are right under $350. Problem is I'm the type that likes to let something wear before replacing it...so someone please tell me more that has any tips.

Shocks are typically more expensive....and if you are a pavement pounder they are just not worth the $$$ in my opinion. You can get the 3/1 for much cheaper and the ride doesn't change from stock. Most people I have seen with the super duper shocks use their truck off-road a bit....which I assume you don't Tamara.

Thanks, Brad. I'll hold off on the level until I have more of a reason to do it. Any other feedback would be great.....

there's nothing woring with getting a set of Bilstein 5100 Leveling shocks. the ride quality will be a bit rougher because they are stiffer shocks. they are VERY good quality. the sucky thing is that they are only good for a 2.5in level and on your truck IIRC, 3in is level. The cost isnt that much... only about $200 for a front set and it's a direct replacement of your stock shock. I'm 100% for getting a leveling kit on "Big Daddy"

I just bought FOUUR 5100 with front adj from shockwarehouse for $235. 00 total discount plus the TEN you put in code at the end.
Dealer replaced my stock shocks 3,000 miles ago due to front leak, so should have gone with spacer.
How much stiffer I don't know.
I need to find a good installer of shocks that knows how to allign truck well that wont charge arm and leg if any of you gyuys know? Ilive in Pearland. Read where full 2.5 lift on these shocks on crewmax may make it dead level or nose high, so I need to find out first. May put on LRO rear blocks if that is the case or just go with 1.75 lift.
Hope that helps you too Tamara.

I'm being a typical woman and can't make up my mind but for now I'm back to lifting....not leveling. It will take some time but I'm getting exactly what I want/
